Heart to Heart

The Mountains are Calling

I never thought I would say this, but I am going to miss Memphis so much. This is coming from the girl who cried her eyes out as she stuffed her face with a burrito when she found out she was moving to Memphis. *The burrito made me feel a little bit better, thanks for asking*

We have been through so much in the last 4 years and made so many memories. We bought our first house and together made it a home. The home we brought our sweet boy to. However, the mountains are calling and the time has come for yet another move.

During these past four years, I’ve watched my husband become a doctor, seen the excitement in his face after his first cataract surgery, and the hurdles he’s overcome and the confidence he’s gained as a surgeon.

I got a job as a nurse and the best work family I could have ever asked for. They were a huge support system during our infertility treatments.

I made a friend who has been the greatest blessing. I have learned so much from her as a Christian and as a mother. Her three little children are so dear to me and I hope they will always be Maxwell’s little buddies.

We explored countless neighborhoods, found our favorite streets to stroll through, ate the best food Memphis has to offer, visited all the spots Memphis is known for, and tried our best to immerse ourselves in the best of Memphis culture.

We went through pain, heartbreak, disappointment, and challenges during those four years and discovered even more how to lean on each other and on God. We experienced the greatest joy when baby Maxwell was born. It amazes me how God places us exactly where we need to be in order to grow. He gives us the exact nutrients we need through experiences, relationships, and trials to blossom.

Though it was hard to sell our cute little home and move from a place I grew to love, I have felt comfort in looking back and seeing God’s steady hand leading us along the way.

During the last few weeks of our time in Memphis, we took Maxwell to some of the iconic Memphis places. I am working on a little book with all these pictures entitled, “Where You were Born.” Although he won’t remember Memphis, we hope it will carry a special place in his heart as we recount the stories of our time there.

We know that God has placed us in Colorado – that’s a story in and of itself! He has carefully and gently taken the seedlings from Memphis and replanted them in the soil of Denver. We are more than excited to see how God works in our lives during this next year.

Stay tuned!

We did visit his church one time. We have been going to the Boulder church though. We have some friends there and they do Sabbath school after church which is perfect for Maxwell’s nap schedule!
