Maxwell turns one

I can’t believe that I’m officially a party planner MOM! We all know how much I love planning parties, so to plan my son’s first birthday just made me squeal inside.

It wasn’t hard to think of a “theme” for Maxwell’s first birthday. Of course, I had to throw a “Where the Wild Things are” party! If you haven’t read the book, you definitely should. The little boy in the book is named Max. It’s a popular book that is rather simple and short but has some profound thoughts and is wonderfully illustrated.

I kept things simple with a family style dinner of chili, cornbread, and all the fixins’. The tablescape was designed to be the “forest” that Max walked through on his adventure in the book. Cute place settings and colorful balloons completed this “wild” first birthday. Maxwell loved playing with all the balloons and enjoyed a few bites of his vegan birthday cake.

We were so excited to share this birthday dinner with our family and friends. Little Max won’t remember this birthday, but I definitely will. Let’s be for real, I was also celebrating one year of motherhood.

Special thanks to our family for flying out and celebrating the “King of all the Wild Things”!

“I’ll eat you up I love you so” my sweet little Max!
