Celebrations

Fall Favorites

It’s that time of the year when the weather begins to cool, leaves change their color, and hot drinks are a necessity. And what a better place to celebrate this fall season than at the Hartman home. My in-laws live just outside of Nashville where there is a corn field to your left and a wheat field to your right. The bumpy road narrows just before you approach their driveway, a red barn sits on the hill. In the backyard on the big oak tree is an “L & M” with a heart wrapped around the letters that was carved the year Matthew left for med school. You hear the neighbors roster in the morning and the crickets at night. Country living they call it. It’s been 7 years since I have known Matthew, and 7 years I’ve been driving down this country road. A lot of memories have been had down Hartman Lane. And this Thanksgiving, that’s what I am most thankful for- the memories we have and continue to create as a family.

I wanted to do a little something special for the family this year and celebrate Thanksgiving with desserts and hot cider! There is no better way to experience this season of thankfulness than with the crunch of fallen leafs, dogs running around, and family laughter. I threw together a fall table complete with chocolate pumpkin cheesecake, donuts, butterscotch cookies, cold apple cider, and hot  pumpkin cider. My fall heart was happy, as well as my tummy. I hope y’all had a blessed thanksgiving no matter what your year has faced.  And just because Thanksgiving is over, don’t let your thankful heart be too.

    Lis,
This post about our country home just warms my heart. I have lived in this lovely spot for 20 years. Our kids were fortunate to have played in the fields, creeks, and barn. We’ve had plenty of animals join us through the years as well. I guess your post just reminds me of how lucky we are to be living here. Your delicious desserts and beautiful table was truly scrumptious. Seven years ago you won our hearts and almost five years ago you became a Hartman and our daughter. David and I are so blessed to have you and Benjamin added to our family tree. Our Beth’s talent for photography really shines in some of these gorgeous pictures. Thanks for warming my heart with your message. This is all I need for the holidays.
