The previous owners turned the attic of our home into a two bedroom and bathroom living area. It’s not meant for tall folks, but those who are blessed with shorter genes might enjoy spending a night in this darling and cozy guest quarter.
We made this space one of our first projects and painted the walls, changed the doorknobs and hinges, and remodeled the bathroom.
I started by just decorating one of the two rooms. There are a few sentimental pieces in this room that make it one of my favorite rooms in the house.
My grandpa had this bed frame in his room as a child and then the bed became mine as a teenager. The original color was white, but I added a deep blue paint to the iron to make it stand out a bit more. Papa Judgey (grandpa) is well over six feet tall and this bed is a testament to his growth spurt. Do you see the bent rods? That certainly wasn’t my growth spurt that caused that!
The little round side table on the left belonged to my great grandmother. I added a little chalk paint to freshen it up. The smaller circles actually swivel around making this piece extra unique. With just a few finishing items from Home Goods and bedding from Pottery Barn we’re ready for guests!
I love this room for its simplicity and pieces from years ago. Don’t kick all that old furniture tied with memories to the curb. With a little love they just might turn into something beautiful and create new memories for years to come.

November 22, 2017 at 11:49 pmGrandpa Judge enjoyed your comments regarding his bed. When he was a child he slept in the attic . I saw that room a few years ago. It was a huge unheated attic! Large enough for three large bedrooms.
He slept on a feather bed & under one. Plus, long handle underwear that had a trap door. Of course no indoor plumbing! And they say that was the good old days. He is sitting here telling me this laughing at the wonderful memories he has when he was a child.
He just stated the bed is probably two hundred years old. It belonged to his Grandma & Grandpa.
Poppy Judge’s parents were both born 1892.
