It’s All About The Details

We are the third owners of our little 1940’s home. Though it has been updated, the previous owners have done an excellent job maintaining the homes original character. Some walls have been removed and rooms added on, but its all been done in a tasteful fashion. One of my favorite things about older homes are the doorknobs. You can imagine my face when I first saw the old glass doorknobs in our home. Aren’t they beautiful? They add so much character!

I remember as a child playing in the dried up creek bed behind our house. Occasionally we would find little treasures from the old burned down farmhouse that used to reside on the property before my parents built their home. My favorite treasure was a rusty doorknob with an ornate key still in its lock. I am sure this is where my love for pretty knobs/pulls came from.

Replacing door or furniture hardware is such an easy way to add a personal touch and a little bit of pizazz to any space. Not to mention it’s an inexpensive update! I added my own touch to some of our pieces of furniture with some cute little knobs from Hobby Lobby. Don’t be afraid to mix and match complimentary decorative knobs on larger furniture pieces to make it even more unique and fun. Decorative hardware pieces can be the perfect accessory for any room! Decorating is all about the details.

And by all means, when you stumble across a beautiful antique knob, swoon away. I will be with you in spirit.
